How I Went From Amazon Associate to Amazon Influencer—and How You Can Too

As a mom of two beautiful children, my biggest goal was to find a way to make money online while still being present for my family.

The journey hasn’t been easy—I’ve experienced my fair share of ups and downs—but I’m beyond grateful for where I am today. And now, I want to share my experience with you, so you can start your own online income journey.

How I Went From Amazon Associate to Amazon Influencer—and How You Can Too

My Start in the Online Space

I first entered the world of online earning as an Amazon Associate, promoting products through affiliate links. Over time, I worked my way up to becoming an Amazon Influencer, which has opened even more doors for me. If you’re interested in making money through Amazon but aren’t sure where to start, let me break down the key differences between these two programs.

Amazon Associate: The Affiliate Program for Beginners

The Amazon Associates Program is an affiliate platform that allows you to earn commissions by promoting products. Here’s how it works:

You choose products to promote.

You share affiliate links on your social media, blog, or website.

• You earn a commission every time someone makes a purchase through your link.

Amazon Influencer: Taking It to the Next Level

The Amazon Influencer Program is an extension of Amazon Associates, but with additional perks. Instead of just sharing links, you get your own Amazon storefront where you can organize and showcase products you recommend.

Here’s what makes it different:

• You can upload videos and images of products, which can appear on Amazon product pages.

• If a customer watches your video or views your images and makes a purchase, you earn a commission.

• You still have the option to share your storefront link on social media or your website.

If you’ve never started with either program, don’t worry! Stick around as I dive deeper into how these programs can skyrocket your earning potential.

How to Get Started with Amazon Associates

I’ve been an Amazon Associate since 2017, and I can tell you firsthand that it’s one of the easiest affiliate platforms to start with—especially if you’re a complete beginner with no experience in the online space.

Requirements to Join Amazon Associates

Getting started is simple. Here’s what you’ll need:

✅ Personal information

✅ A platform (such as social media, a blog, or a website)

✅ A payment method to receive commissions

Amazon’s Payment Methods

Amazon offers three ways to get paid:

Gift Card

check

Bank Deposit (for U.S. users)

If you’re outside the U.S., you can use Wise or Payoneer to receive payments.

Meeting Amazon’s Initial Requirements

When you sign up as an Amazon Associate, you have 180 days to:

✔️ Make at least three sales

✔️ Get at least 100 clicks on your links

Once you meet these requirements, you can unlock even more opportunities—including the Creator Connections feature, where brands collaborate with affiliates to offer additional commission opportunities.

Choosing a Niche for Your Amazon Affiliate Journey

To increase your chances of success, I highly recommend picking a niche. This helps you attract the right audience who are actually interested in your content.

Here are some profitable niche ideas:

✔️ Pets

✔️ Mom & Parenting

✔️ Home & Décor

✔️ Making Money Online

✔️ Health & Fitness

The Best Platforms to Promote Your Affiliate Links

There are several platforms you can use to promote your Amazon links, including:

Instagram

TikTok

Facebook

YouTube

Twitter (X)

Pinterest

If you’re creating graphics or video content, I highly recommend using Canva—a beginner-friendly tool with both free and pro features.

Why Pinterest is a Goldmine for Affiliates

If you’re just starting out, Pinterest is one of the best platforms to use because it acts like a search engine (similar to Google). Millions of people visit Pinterest daily to find ideas on:

Fashion

Home decor

Cooking recipes

Luxury home improvement

Since Pinterest is heavily used by women, tailoring your content toward fashion, parenting, home decor, and similar categories can help you attract more clicks and sales.

Success in Affiliate Marketing Requires Consistency

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is expecting overnight success. Making money online is not a get-rich-quick scheme—it takes consistency and commitment.

To see results:

✅ Post 2-5 times daily

✅ Stay consistent and patient

✅ Keep learning and improving your content strategy

Remember, your journey is unique to you. Whether you grow fast or slow, what matters is that you stay committed and focus on improving along the way.
